This jewelry design references the scroll motif popular in 18th-century decorative arts. The scroll has classic origins, dating to ancient Greece. 18th-century artisans often combined classical and natural elements, rendering the curving scroll shape as gracefully flowing leaves and vines. Precious and semiprecious stones - diamonds, rubies, emeralds, topaz, and garnet - were as highly prized in the colonial period as they are today, as were gold and silver.

Received this ring recently and it is lovely. I thought the amethyst was beautiful and I also loved the silver. It looks brushed and just is pretty.
