Inspiration
References in 18th-century inventories, diaries and period recipes indicate that the colonial cook relied on various wooden utensils to prepare her meals. Spoons with deep or shallow bowls and long or short handles were common. So were wooden ladles, scoops, rolling pins, paddles for stirring kettles of laundry or soup, flat peels for removing baked goods from ovens and brooms for cleaning up. Surviving 18th-century utensils and examples in period prints and paintings provide the basis for the woodenware sold in Colonial Williamsburg. Each item depicts a typical form used in Virginia kitchens at the time of the revolution.

12in. wooden spoon.
The spoon that my daughter and I bought at Colonial Williamsburg for my chef wife decades ago finally wore out after much heavy use. She loved it. Figured I go to your website and there it was. Imagine my shock when is saw the mass produced look of it and worse was the plants logo burned into the backside of the handle. Had you shown pictures of all angles, as many firms do, I don’t believe I would have bought it. Figured I’d check the manufacturers website and there it was for a lot less. 10 dollars less, in fact. Thought I was paying for something in keeping with the history of it. No. Your lucky to get a “2”. I called customer service to express my displeasure and was told she would “pass it on”. I lost my first one in a move so I searched your website and found my spoon. I LOVE this spoon. I am keeping tour website close so I can buy more products. I also had the same spoon except with a longer handle. I did not find that one. This spoon is terrific.
