Product Description
This friendly little squirrel is ready to help light the way to your holiday festivities as a charming collectible Christmas ornament. Candles were a valuable commodity in the 18th century, especially beeswax ones. The lantern here was inspired by the charming back door lantern of the Historic Area's gambrel-roofed Travis House. This beautifully detailed ornament is hand-painted on high-fired porcelain. Makes a wonderful holiday gift or addition to your tree-trimming collection.

Inspiration
This exquisitely detailed squirrel is similar to one from a 1771 edition of a book by 18th-century explorer and naturalist Mark Catesby. The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands is a part of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collections. The book provides one of the most complete records of flora and fauna from colonial America.
