Inspiration
Each piece of chalkware begins in an antique chocolate mold from the Vaillancourt collection. The piece is then re-sculpted with new details and motifs, filled with a plaster-like substance, and dried. The resulting "chalkware" is then hand-painted, bringing to life the mold maker's intricate artistry. Vaillancourt's chalkware figurines are inspired by the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.
