Inspiration
A family document notes that Ann Cary Selden Breckinridge of Botetourt County, Virginia, wore a stylish embroidered gown at a Congressional Ball in Washington, D. C., where her husband served in the House of Representatives from 1809 to 1817. The embroidered motifs on the gown in our collections is the inspiration behind the Breckenridge line from Port 68. See the original gown in our digital archives (object #2000-48).
