Product Description
Judging from 18th-century letters and inventories, Colonial Williamsburg's citizens spent a lot of time at the card table. Williamsburg tavern keepers bought as many as six dozen packs at a time from the Printing Office. Playing cards were imported from England and printed on heavy paper with woodblocks. Face cards were handpainted, and the backs were left plain. The I Hardy cards are based on a deck printed circa 1765.
