Product Description
This Vaillancourt Chalkware Santa with Oranges on Mule collectible will add charm to your holiday décor. Our Santa wears a red coat and fur hat and carries sacks of oranges. Oranges were a prized 18th-century Christmas gift when sugary treats were less common than they are today, and citrus fruit in the winter was a luxury. Santa rides a mule, winding his way through the woods to deliver nature's special treat to all the good little boys and girls. This traditional Christmas folk-art decoration will bring joy year after year! Part of the 2026 Vaillancourt chalkware collectible collection.
Vaillancourt chalkware pieces have a narrow depth, making them excellent Christmas decorations for fireplace mantels, bookshelves, narrow hallway tables, or other tight spaces.

Inspiration
Each piece begins as an antique chocolate mold from the Vaillancourt collection, then gets re-sculpted with new details and holiday motifs. A new mold, made from the re-sculpted piece, is filled with a plaster-like substance and dried. The resulting "chalkware" is then hand-painted, bringing to life the mold maker's intricate artistry and the festivity of Colonial Williamsburg's holiday season. Vaillancourt's chalkware figurines reflect the collections of Colonial Williamsburg's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum.
