Inspiration
Our sophisticated matelassé design is based on an antique coverlet from Colonial Williamsburg's textile collections. The original was made in Portugal during the late 17th century and features mythological flora and fauna motifs separated by columned arches. These patterns are characteristic of decorative arts from the late baroque period, roughly concurrent with the reign of England's monarchs William and Mary.

This is my third Williamsburg William and Mary bedspread
This is the third Williamsburg William and Mary bedspread that I have purchased. I keep going back to this bedspread for our master bedroom because of its quality and appearance. Each bedspread has lasted 10+ years on a bed that is used every day (and often with a dog or cat using it for nap time.) This bedspread washes well and covers the mattress and box spring fully, hanging to within four inches from the floor on either side, and reaching the floor at the foot of the bed. I give this bedspread 5 stars and will buy it again in 10 years if it is still available!

wish they still made these in the colors. One color long ago was a deep muted beautiful red. Other colors pretty too.
